But for indie devs, especially those working solo or in small teams, chasing this visual perfection early on is a dangerous trap. It’s a siren song leading to scope creep, feature bloat, and ultimately, project paralysis. I’ve been there. I spent six months meticulously crafting a hyper-realistic forest environment for my first game, only to realize I hadn’t even figured out what the player was supposed to do in it.
