Layering feedback
Every action should answer back — visually and audibly.
The core principle of feel: every meaningful action should produce an immediate, multi-sensory response. When the player does something, the game should answer within a frame or two — a sound, a flash, a bit of motion. Stack several small responses and a simple action becomes deeply satisfying.
A "juicy" coin pickup, layered
- The coin scales up and pops as it is collected (motion)
- A bright ping plays (audio)
- A few sparkle particles burst out (visual)
- The score counter bumps/scales briefly (UI feedback)
None of these change what the coin does — they just make collecting it feel great. That is the whole art of juice.
