Market Your Indie Game Lesson 4 of 5
Social and devlog that travels
Show the game often, on a rhythm you can actually keep.
Social media for a solo dev is not about going viral — it is about showing your game often enough, over a long enough time, that the right people find it and wishlist. The winning move is consistency: a small, sustainable rhythm of posts beats a rare, elaborate one. Most of it is just showing the work.
- Post the game itself — a GIF or short clip of one satisfying moment beats a text update
- Ride the built-in rhythms: Screenshot Saturday, Wishlist Wednesday, and a regular devlog
- Size each post for its platform (a landscape image for X, a square for Instagram, a 1280×720 thumbnail for YouTube)
- Always end with the one ask that matters: “Wishlist on Steam,” with the link
Tip Batch it. Make a week of social images and captions in one sitting so posting never competes with making the game. The tools below turn one screenshot into a week of sized, captioned posts.
