Timing and spacing
How long a frame holds and how far things move sells weight.
Timing is how long each frame stays on screen; spacing is how far the subject moves between frames. Together they control the feel of motion. Frames close together read as slow or heavy; frames spaced far apart read as fast. Holding a frame longer adds weight or a pause.
- Ease in / ease out — space frames closer at the start and end of a move so it accelerates and settles naturally
- A snappy attack has big spacing (few frames, far apart); a floaty jump has smaller, even spacing
- Hold a key pose a beat longer to let the player read it
